The US taxpayer would be wise to fund continued R&D into synthetic fuel possibilities. But only the private sector and not the US taxpayer should fund the transition from R&D to commercial scale production. The one positive way we will know that any R&D on synthetic fuels have been successful is when the private investment companies show up to utilize the results of the R&D.

If it sounds to good to be true. PT Barnum said there's one born every minute. Not a bad idea but don't throw money at it just because it sounds good. Make them demonstrate it first then fine tune it.

I notice the nasty old "COULD" word again. Could by definition means something that might happen but it might not happen. So why do we not can the "could" word along with "maybe, might, should, ect" and say that we did this and this is what happened.
