I never really seem to like the day time version. Does it still come on at night?

Does anyone still watch this show other than my 94 year old grandma? She loves it, but doesn't understand it at all, she can't figure out why they cheer so loud when they open the low dollar amounts :)

Howie's latest show is simply a Candid Camera ripoff.

Nope, not interested at all in "Howie do it". Sounds like I didn't miss anything from your review.

The primetime version of this is not on NBC's schedule. Supposedly they will only air special/themed episodes at night, but the daytime crappy version will continue.

I saw that show with that IDIOT. Talk about cross-promoting your shows. I thought we were watching "The Biggest Loser".
Maybe we were.

Ha ha. Like I said: "I believe that it (the appeal of this show) is watching people's intelligence get wiped out by their own greed."
At anything over half a million, I would be singing like Steve Miller - "Go on... take the money and run! Ooooo-yeah!" and pounding that red button like Ol' John Henry.
Heck, at $150,000 I would be thinking "After taxes, I've got me a cool hundred G! - Goodbye Mortgage!" That alone would be tempting, depending what I had left on the board.

The world's biggest loser, and only because he was a greedy pig. He turned down $603,000!!! You have to see it to believe it.

>I've watched maybe 4 minutes ever of this show ... and THERE it is.

I do not know... is that where they do NOT go and ask the 3 "supporters" what they think (for 5 minutes), and then have Howie recap the entire game and explain the contestant's situation again (for 5 minutes)???

I have seen a difference in offers like this in the evening show throughout its history too though. One contestant with the million and 2 low figures <$500 got an offer of just over $300,00. Two weeks later another person had almost the same situation and got an offer of $250,000. It seems to not be a straight mathematical calculation.
SPOILER for those who recorded the 09/15 show: The sports and video game loving guy on Monday night was a classic case of greed. He had $126,000 PLUS an exclusive offer of his dream come true - a visit to EA Sports HQ, attending a Launch Party, and being immortalized in a game as the Referee in NBA 2010 (You can't buy that.) Just the money alone is possibly more than double a PE Teacher's salary. He wound up with $110. Not impressive. I would have run with that offer like Usain Bolt (Olympics).

I know there is no million dollar top prize. Here is an example of the low offers I was talking about.
One show last week had 3 cases left - $250,000 and $1,000 and $1. He took the offer of $37,000.
Another contestant took the deal of $35,000. There were 4 cases left - $10, $300, $500, $500,000.
Another low offer was $26,000. There were 2 cases left ($100,000 and $10). The offer should have been closer to $50,000.

The half hour shows are not as good as the night version. The bankers offers are too low. They show two episodes a day. I wonder what the ratings are for them.

Congratulations on her win last night. The previews said lightning strikes twice this season. That means another contestant will also win the top prize at some point.
Starting on Monday, 9/8/08 there will be a half hour version of the show from Monday to Friday. I believe the top prize will be $250,000 on that version. They better be careful though. You don't want to overdo it and turn off the viewers.

Call me skeptical if the promo of someone finally winning the million dollars by picking the right case next week is going to happen.I hope it does happen though.

While we are on a rant... I can not stand how game shows & some other shows these days spend 3 minutes before the commercial break showing what is coming up, and 3 minutes after the break re-capping what was just shown. The spouse says "How else do you think they fit 30 minutes of content into an hour?"

When this show first came out they could get through 2 contestants in an hour, but now it takes an hour just for one. They definitely have slowed things down considerably, and I think to the detriment of the show.

bigmakinmich, that is why I record it... and then watch it later fast-forwarding through the pathetic parts: - their family/friends giving advice for 5 minutes. - Howie summing up the board and their options, and reiterates how it is "a big decision" for 5 minutes.

I used to really like this show when it came out but now it's like every contestant is going for their 15 mins of fame and trying to drag along a dozen others with them .. bringing their dogs on their scout troops and what ever and then hamming it up with dance moves and singing before choosing the cases .. i used to watch it all the time now i never do it just makes me sick

RE: capt93's post. Watching this show, I often say "I bet that (big offer) looks pretty good now, huh?" In the special shows when they have a lot of million-dollar cases, and their first offer is over $150,000... I tell my wife "You would be mad at me, because I would deal right then and there." MOST contestants end up with less than their highest offer. I have seen people turn down well over $200,000 only to end with $50,000.
Greed. It's funny.

I thought the season finale was interesting. They put the lady in the box and dropped all the ping pong balls in, and she had to grab one. Hers contained the number 8, so she had 8 $1 million dollar cases in her game. She started out real strong, I think she only hit 1 $1 million dollar case in her first 6. She ended up with a $170k offer but turned it down. Then things started to go bad. She finally accepted an offer of about $28k, but had $50k in her case.

That's true, I wouldn't risk it either, but I've always figured that at some point by now someone would end up with the final two cases being $750k and a million or even $500k and a million, and then the person wouldn't feel so bad risking it all to go for the million.

Patman22 - No one is going to risk their $290,000 offer to take a 1 out of 3 chance at a million... when the 2 out of 3 chance is for $1,000 or less.
If someone just happens to get 2 high ones like the million and the half million - yeah, they'll probably risk that $700,000 offer. But they still only have a 50/50 chance at that point.
