I have actually seen a XOOM out in the wild.
On the other hand, I see iOS devices all over the place.

My DD8 check out books from the Gwinnett County Library System (Our neighboring county which gives out-of-county residents a card for $30.). She currently has Justin Bieber's book checked out. Since the Nook Color doesn't have 3G she doesn't take it in the car very often unless she is reading something she just can't put down. I think the last time it was A to Z Mysteries.
I'm able to compare different tablets because... well because I have a couple of them. I like to try new items out.
She is more tech savvy that most at her age. She got her first MacPro at two. Now she uses a MacBook. Viruses are generally not an issue on Macs. Do I sound proud of the little snot? Well, I sure am.
Hemond, my vehicles are pictured on my avatar (except my motorcycles). While they are not new, they are paid for. Each has a different purpose and I enjoy them. As for the Navigator being the choice vehicle of drug dealers... Mine doesn't have enough "bling" to be confused with a drug lords car. It is however very comfortable. We used it for a run to Disney World last month. My back didn't even hurt a bit after the 7.5 hour drive.
Hemond, you don't need to be hating... Jealousy is so unbecoming.

So Bell30012, your 8 yo daughter has a cellphone, an ipad and a Nook(rooted)? What does she enjoy reading on her Nook(rooted)? War and Peace? Somerset Maugham, perhaps something more contempory like 'Under the Dome'?
But we know how 8year olds are always misplacing things. I'll bet she is often leaving her Nook(rooted) in either your Navigator or your Thunderbird or perhaps your motorcycle, or perhaps one of the many other vehicles you own.
Tell me , is it trying to own a Navigator? At one time it was the drug dealer's car of choice. Actually, it still is in some circles. The low lifes who hang in the all night IHOP I sometimes frequent all drive Navigators. Sometimes I feel like telling those 'Bro's that their bad rides are no longer fashionable ghettomobiles.

The sales manager at a large retailer confided that he can't keep iPad2 in stock, sold out in a day each time more came in, and no one even wants to look at the Xoom. The new Blackberry came out on the 19th and the store had a special 7:00 am opening for it. FIVE people were in the line-up. FIVE.

>>Short story according to the link? looks like the Xoom wins. Why? better specs, more features, comparable price.<<
Guess that depends on how you define "wins"
"It's only been a few weeks since Motorola's top-of-the-line Android tablet and smartphone went on sale, but already analysts are asserting that the Xoom and Atrix are duds. Motorola has not disclosed any sales numbers for its shiny new gadgets, but Pacific Crest analyst James Faucette told Forbes sales for the two Android devices 'have been disappointing.'"
Motorola's Xoom and Atrix, Duds?

Since his comprehension is not very good, Hemond's vents must be blocked again.

You Hemond, thanks for targeting me with your posts.
See there are times that I have this eight-year-old daughter with me. She likes to use the iPad and then I use the iPhone or vice versa. Of course, she has her own iPhone too. The phone is always in my pocket, there are times the iPad is not (I'd need bigger pockets.). I like convenience. I like having choices.
Since I got the iPad, I found that my MacBook isn't used very much. I tend to either use my MacPro at the desk or the iPad. Still the convenience of having choices is worth it in my book. My daughter also has a Nook Color (rooted) that she using for surfing when at home. I like some features of the Android tablets but not all. The size of the Nook is great. The clarity of the screen is awesome. The lack of 3G blows.
Also note the iPad doesn't fit well in all of my vehicles for GPS use. Particularly the motorcycle and the Thunderbird but it sits perfectly on the long ashtray in the Navigator and under the dash behind the shifter in my Insight.

<<<<I love my iPad with the unlimited data plan. I'm sure something will surpass it one day but for now? It's my GPS, XM, web browser, email, music player, digital picture frame, and much, much more.>>>
If you are doing all this stuff, what is left to do on your cell phone where, on the other thread, you claim to be talking and surfing on your bluetooth.

What crop? In all five stores there is ONE floor model that's not an iPad and the iPad2 sold out at all 3 places in hours. There is no crop, there's Apple and there's talk, talk, talk, talk.

They are just like all other computing devices - fairly equal.

So, long story short, which tablet(s) are the best and why ?
Apple IPAD 2 Motorola Xoom Blackberry Playbook Samsung Galaxy Other?
They all seem to be in the 500-850 $ range, depending on make and model.
