Don't know that the cilantro will make it - mine always bolts in the first couple of days after it gets hot. We are harvesting peas, though, and I have some eensy bell peppers on the plants I grew from seed.

I always plant tomatoes, bell pepper, and cucumbers. I used to seed them starting in January but inside of the house. Too much trouble. Now I buy them around this time. I haven't done it yet. Just waiting for the last frost

Peas are looking good, and this cool weather is probably just what they need. No blooms yet, but they're looking promising. The string beans are almost all up and starting to take off. I ate my first radish out of the garden Friday - it was planted January 27th.
Not all the tomatoes made it - I think a squirrel chewed one off at ground level. I haven't planted the peppers yet: they're still in their little peat pots hardening off in the garden. I was going to put them in the ground yesterday but was worried that the overnight temperatures might shock them too much. Will probably plant them this afternoon, along with an heirloom tomato I bought from Lowes to replace the one I lost. It's supposedly the hybrid developed by Heinz to make their ketchup. Catsup. Whatever.

Today I just started taking things off, cleaning, and trying again to start it. Added oil, cleaned plug, cleaned air filter, then it started! Glad I didn't go buy a new one. Knew it was just some little thing...

The missus planted peas last weekend, and there are little green shoots poking their heads out of the soil. Let's hope we get peas before it gets too hot for the little guys!

All my seedlings are up - serranos, bell peppers, and tomatoes - in the germination station in the attic. I planted short rows of radishes and carrots outside this morning before the rain came through. Can't wait...

I now have my first tomato seedlings - they popped their little heads up from the soil in my germination tray some time yesterday. Yay me!
Now, on to the chiles and bell peppers - that should be another couple of days.

Said goodbye to my two-year-old chile pepper "trees": we cleaned everything but cilantro and parsley out of the garden over the weekend, top-dressed with new topsoil and the contents of my compost bin. Also started my tomato ("Ace" bush) and pepper (serrano and bell) seeds. I think the wife also tried planting some snow peas.

I dunno - I'm still getting chiles, peppers and tomatoes off plants that went in the ground in 2011. Haven't had to buy a jalapeƱo in a couple of years. I think the last two years were brutal for stuff that needs a cool period and gets killed by too much heat. My beans didn't do squat last year, but that's probably because it was the third year in a row in that corner of the garden - I plan to rotate them out this year.
Bought radish, pea, and chile sees over the weekend - time to get the seedstarter warmed up again!

I may try seeds. Plants didn't survive. Or I may just quit trying to garden. 2 tomatoes and 2 cantaloupes are just not worth the cost n effort.

Southwestern (bissonet and renwick) had cilantro seeds when I was there last week. Cornelius on dairy-ashford has their seeds out, so I'll bet they have some, too.
