Gas Buddies,
Use this thread to list posts that you delete and give a reason why. Hopefully, the offenders will read this thread and correct their errors.
If not, at least it gives the moderators an avenue to see problem posters, especially ones that post bad info EVERY day.

Somewhere down there it says to post a 0 price here or a $9.99 price with the mobile app to overwrite a bogus price. Neither method worked when I was trying to delete a price at a closed station earlier this week. Can someone verify that this is the correct method?

I'm on the Android app, FWIW.

Some members insist on posting credit prices on three stations on W. Bay Area Blvd in Houston-SE (2 Valeros & a Conoco). I don't go by there every day to see the cash price (which is normally about 20¢ less) so I just delete the credit price EVERY day!
*Note- The GasBuddy policy has changed and they ask that the CASH price be posted when a station offers different prices for cash vs credit! (see price posting guidelines)

I also delete these every time I see it!
If a station is "out of gas" then they are NOT selling it, and when they get their next delivery the price will most likely be different!

**Also, Chevron station at Gulf Fwy & Monroe has had their pumps bagged for weeks, yet their price gets posted almost daily!

why do people post a price 30 cents below the surrounding stations, then put in the remarks section "no gas" or "out of gas".
site is for posting prices of fuel for sale.

one in Pasadena and one in central houston deleted this morning.

again, stations being remodeled, no pumps, no tanks, just a sign. people need to look before posting. ...
.
talked to one operator, he said he would either take down price or change it to 99 cents, and let people search for the pumps in his muddy lot that used to be the gas station. all his regulars know where the back of the store is located. he was surprised people were posting his gas prices since the pumps were removed for the remodel over three weeks ago.

Amazing how people will drive down a road, see a sign, copy the price, and not even notice
1)the station is closed for remodeling,
or
2)the pumps are gone as they are being replaced,
or
3)in one case there is nothing but an empty lot

bpoppe1, That's perfect for now. If it should be reincarnated into another station or torn down in the future, then you can go back and update or remove it.

A question for those here who would know...

There's a station near me that shut down a few months ago. It looks like it's not coming back, but I'm not 100% sure of that. I have changed it on the Master Station List to show as Closed-Temporarily.

Anything else I should be doing?

For what it's worth, the station is (or was) the Diamond Shamrock at 11th Street and Durham in the Heights.

Thanks.

Now if they would get rid of the oversised icons on the map indicating company owned stations, which were the ones GB was using to report prices. they cover an entire intersection, and there might be a cheaper station on the opposite corner.
What I would really like to see is an intersection with a Valero, a Loves, a Union 76, and anybody else that uses the big icon, one on each corner. That would really mess up the map.

It appears that all the branded "Valero" logos have been removed from the site. They really didn't bother me although I don't think it was fair that they were automaticly moved to the top of each price point. I guess the mods didn't like their site being manipulated!

update Jack's Fuel Depot 5912 Red Bluff Rd & Olson Ln
(out of order all pumps ) Pasadena stupifieded04

if all the pumps are out of order, the place is not selling gas. if it is not selling gas, it does not have a price for the gas it is not selling.
maybe that is why the poster's name is stupid fried?

bpoppe,
Here's a copy of the new policy I received from the mods':

I recently contacted the moderators about the posting of cash/card discount prices after being made aware by another member that the stated policy in the Andriod app. asked for the posting of cash/card prices rather than the regular price. Below is the response I received from CC which states that GasBuddy.com has changed it's policy in regards to this:

"GasBuddy's goal is help everyone make wise fueling decisions.

The policy for reporting cash/credit prices has recently been changed to better suit the areas where this information is important.

When reporting prices for stations in areas that have different prices based on method of payment, we ask that you post the cash price where it exists. If the station does not offer a cash price, the standard price should be reported.

The Comments field may be used to include a note about cash/credit prices, but this is not required.

Information entered in the Comments field will be shown within parentheses () after the station address.

Since GasBuddy consists of mobile apps for several platforms and 200+ websites, it will take us some time to update the Price Posting Guidelines throughout our system, as these have to be done manually, one-at-a-time. Thanks for your patience.

Let me know if you have any further questions or problems.

Regards,

CC
GasBuddy.com"

* What I have gone to is posting the LOWEST price possible by using a discount card or gift card (without buying $100 worth of groceries or a carwash etc.) then noting the price without the discount on the comment line.
I feel that the ultimate purpose of the site is to find the lowest price for gas and that should be what I see when I do a search. (But, I would also like to know if it's going to cost me 30¢ more to use a credit card! Comment line info is important too!)

Paulcab, are you saying that the standard has now changed and that we should be posting cash prices? I'm okay with that, but I really want to be sure before I change what I'm doing.

Also, just to be clear...

I am assuming that the Kroger card discount (typically 3 cents per gallon) is not covered by this.

Also, does this apply to the Chevron card and the Citgo card?

Thanks!

Deleted several postings with the "too expansive" (sic) comment. Yes, we are all aware that gas prices are currently at an all-time high, but we don't need to single out stations with misspelled personal comments like that.

if it will eventually get gas, it will probably be at a different price. the only good thing about posting a station that is out of gas is the warning to not go there for a day or so, because when the new fuel gets delivered all the sediment will be stirred up, and if the operator was not watching close enough to prevent running out of fuel then is probably not changing the pump filters on a regular basis either.

no reason to post a price for an item that is not available.only possible reason to post an out of gas station is to warn people not to buy when the tank is refilled, because if the station operator is not watching his gas levels, he is probably also not changing his filters or performing proper maintenance

Pretty sure it would be safe to delete all those high prices from must2012.
The high priced stations are usually the Shell Oil ones downtown, not the stations must2012 posted. looks like he/she just ran down the freeway and posted the same price for everybody. Then took a strange turn. route taken makes no sense.
new guy did that in the Humble area a while back. reported to the mods and no posts from that person since then.

Correction: Valero Hwy 6 @ Sienna Ranch Rd is NOT in the MSL but rather a map pulls up if you click on "Map". If someone in that area can get the actual numerical address & cross st, please enter it in the MSL.
This station is consistently appearing in the top ten "lowest' prices. I am also wondering if this person is posting cash/Valero caRd prices?
