Gas Buddies,
Use this thread to list posts that you delete and give a reason why. Hopefully, the offenders will read this thread and correct their errors.
If not, at least it gives the moderators an avenue to see problem posters, especially ones that post bad info EVERY day.

Deleted 2 postings by MAC48, 1 in Friendswood, Kroger, he posted the correct address then added (Edgewood Dr=FM-2351, Friendswood Dr = FM-518), that made for multiple entries. 1 in Pearland, HEB, he posted the correct address then added(FM-518 = Broadway), that made for a multiple entry.

Deleted a posting by MAC48 in Friendswood for Kroger, had the correct address but then added to it, "Edgewood Dr=FM2351 & Friendswood Dr=Fm518"
This made it a duplicate posting and I deleted it.

Deleted 3 postings of MAC48 because he can't help himself. 1. Murphy USA, gave correct address but added (Main St = SH35) 2. HEB, gave correct address but added (FM-518 = Broadway) 3. Kroger, gave correct address but added (Edgewood Dr = FM2351, Friendswood Dr = FM-518) The additions make for duplicate listings and the reason I deleted them

Clueless rookie "IM5" posted a Diesel price at the Chevron on Bay Area Boulevard in Webster. The only Chevron in Webster that has Diesel fuel is the one at Kobayashi Road and NASA Parkway.

I zeroed out the post.

Hopefully, the GasBuddy programmers have it in their bucket list to interlock the MSL with app data entry so clueless rookies can't enter prices for fuels the station doesn't sell. They already require that the cash/credit flag be set in the MSL before you can enter a cash price.

Most people use this site to find low gas prices, not to find where they can spend 65¢ more per gallon if they use a credit card. That's what the comment line is for but not the price posts ( per GasBuddy price posting rules).
I will continue to remove any credit prices that I can verify, especially ones appearing on the highest price list.

I say leave those stations with the ridiculous high prices. Their cash prices are probably ridiculous also, and it warns the rest of us to look for fuel before getting stuck at one of those places. Not sure which ones you are cancelling, because I have not seen any of them, though I did see a really ridiculous price on a station by the medical center last week.

On another note, regarding the special station cards. I like to fill my tank when I get fuel. I cannot do that if I have to pre-pay. If I buy a $50.00 card and it does not fill the tank, I cannot check my mpg accurately for that leg of the trip, or that particular day. On the other hand, if it only takes $47.85 to fill the tank, then I have a card with $2.15 on it that must be used at that company, meaning I must buy something from one of their stations again even if I do not wish to do so. And so I report the cash price for those places even though it is often higher than the special brand card price, and I try not to patronize those establishments. (And yes, I have told this to the owner of the convenience store where I occasionally waste my money on lottery tickets and beer, when he asks me why I never buy his fuel.)

I was able to check yesterday on another station that regularly appears on the highest price list.

Citgo, Tomball Parkway at Hollister.

Please remove this station anytime you see it along with the four others I previously listed!

Members post the credit price at these stations which are as much as 65¢ per gallon higher then the cash/gift card prices!

Here's another station that needs to be deleted from the highest price list every day because member/s post the credit price.
Texaco, North Main at Baker, Baytown

If you can check any of the stations that appear daily on the highest price list please do so. I know the stations on Chartres downtown are legit and the Chevron at San Felipe and West Loop. I'm skeptical of any CITGO but I don't want to delete them unless I'm sure

Pigfuzz entered a price for Diesel fuel of $3.60 a gallon at the Chevron at 1043 W Bay Area Blvd & Gateway Drive.

This is one of the stations I update every day when I run errands. I am intimately familiar with the station. They have no Diesel fuel unless it's in the ladies' restroom. There is none in the men's room or the fuel pumps.

I zeroed the offending price and I'm going to send a nasty gram to Pigfuzz. Fortunately, I have my iPad with me as well as my iPhone or I would not be able to.

Here's how I handle gift/loyalty cards.
Most people who buy gas at these stations do so because they have the loyalty card. If you can use the loyalty card at the pump or walk to a cashier and buy a gift card ( which you would have to do if paying cash) then I post the discount price.
I do not post the discount price if you have to go to another location and purchase a gift card ( Murphy USA -Walmart) or buy $100 worth of groceries or a car wash.
The ultimate goal of this site is to find the lowest gas price, without making an additional purchase or having to leave the location.

A stored-value card (cash card, gift card) is not cash. It is a piece of merchandise. If you look around, you can find stored-value cards on sale for less than face value. Before Christmas, I got four $10 iTunes gift cards for $31.96.

US Government agrees with my assertion about stored-value cards. Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center gave away Subway gift cards last June to incentivize potential donors. Yet the donors who got the gift cards qualified as volunteer donors. OK to give away gift cards, not OK to pay cash.

Disturbing trend with new signage.
A lot of stations, particularly Citgo, with Chevron and Texaco not far behind, are putting a special price, available only with a company cash card or loyalty card, as the top price on their sign. This is not even a "cash" price. As a result, a lot of GasBuddies are posting what they think is a cash price, when it is not. This would be the same as Kroger or Randalls posting the cheap price on the top of their sign, and then in small print "with $100.00 of groceries". Car washes are infamous for this, posting a price $.20 cents lower than the nearby stations, and in small print "with $30.00 car wash".
GasBuddies need to be aware of this, and post the true price available to everyone, not a price with a loyalty card, or by jumping through hoops like wal-mart was making people do several months ago.

he/she is back, posting in webster and friendswood as mycheepgas2013. just another name change.
time to shut him/her down again. mods notified.
.................
Assistance needed!
Member(station owner?)nasaoil was banned from posting by the moderators for posting their station (Gas2Go, 1710 FM 528, Houston-SE) with different names(NASA Food Mart) different street names(NASA Pkwy) and in different areas (Webster, Friendswood) to maximize their stations exposure.

They are now back, but posting as a Visitor. We need to delete these posts as soon as possible after they are posted to discourage this practice.

Thanks for your help!

Somewhere down there it says to post a 0 price here or a $9.99 price with the mobile app to overwrite a bogus price. Neither method worked when I was trying to delete a price at a closed station earlier this week. Can someone verify that this is the correct method?

I'm on the Android app, FWIW.

Some members insist on posting credit prices on three stations on W. Bay Area Blvd in Houston-SE (2 Valeros & a Conoco). I don't go by there every day to see the cash price (which is normally about 20¢ less) so I just delete the credit price EVERY day!
*Note- The GasBuddy policy has changed and they ask that the CASH price be posted when a station offers different prices for cash vs credit! (see price posting guidelines)

I also delete these every time I see it!
If a station is "out of gas" then they are NOT selling it, and when they get their next delivery the price will most likely be different!

**Also, Chevron station at Gulf Fwy & Monroe has had their pumps bagged for weeks, yet their price gets posted almost daily!

why do people post a price 30 cents below the surrounding stations, then put in the remarks section "no gas" or "out of gas".
site is for posting prices of fuel for sale.

one in Pasadena and one in central houston deleted this morning.

again, stations being remodeled, no pumps, no tanks, just a sign. people need to look before posting. ...
.
talked to one operator, he said he would either take down price or change it to 99 cents, and let people search for the pumps in his muddy lot that used to be the gas station. all his regulars know where the back of the store is located. he was surprised people were posting his gas prices since the pumps were removed for the remodel over three weeks ago.

Amazing how people will drive down a road, see a sign, copy the price, and not even notice
1)the station is closed for remodeling,
or
2)the pumps are gone as they are being replaced,
or
3)in one case there is nothing but an empty lot

A question for those here who would know...

There's a station near me that shut down a few months ago. It looks like it's not coming back, but I'm not 100% sure of that. I have changed it on the Master Station List to show as Closed-Temporarily.

Anything else I should be doing?

For what it's worth, the station is (or was) the Diamond Shamrock at 11th Street and Durham in the Heights.

Thanks.

Now if they would get rid of the oversised icons on the map indicating company owned stations, which were the ones GB was using to report prices. they cover an entire intersection, and there might be a cheaper station on the opposite corner.
What I would really like to see is an intersection with a Valero, a Loves, a Union 76, and anybody else that uses the big icon, one on each corner. That would really mess up the map.
