The site is BOGUS. I have reported ALL of MY OWN vehicles at 3 different addresses MULTIPLE times over the last year and have NEVER gotten one single piece of mail.

I always report smoking vehicles

But I am mad that some of you guys did not receive notification even though you reported your own vehicle

That means the site is not active

Man, I have reported like 30-40 vehicles in the last 6 months. So all that work is for nothing then huh?

We started keeping a small pad and pen in the car just to record the info. on smoking vehicles. It's sad to say we've used it many, MANY times!

The last time I got a dealer paper plate, they verified that I had insurance.

What is a byres tag? You mean a dealer paper plate?

Mine only smokes if I baby it for about 100 miles then floor it. Once the smoke clears it is not an inssue until I take it easy for a while again.

I had my diesel car reported. They sent me a nasty gram. I burn Biodiesel most 95% of the time. I'll bet my car was running cleaner than the person's car that reported me!

Really Black Stallion???
If you give me the addresses of the stations, I will PERSONALLY be sure that they are investigated. They are potentially committing a crime if what you say is true.

I used to but nothing is done about it. I even tried to report inspection stations giving out stickers on cars not passing.

I dont think they actually do anything. As an experiment, I reported 2 of my company vehicles at different addresses about 1 month ago, and one personal vehicle, and I have yet to get anything in the mail. All the cars are registered to me. Youd think they would like to get those repeat offenders, heh...
BTW, the cars are NOT smoking. Im just trying to see my tax dollars at work (or not).

I have used it. There is quite a bit of new home construction in my area and invariably there will be contractors who have trucks/vans that put up their own smoke screen!

Well, the 10 second thing is there to eliminate reporting of vehicles that only smoke "off idle" which is due to valestem seal leakage, which is very common. Usually such vehicles don't smoke at all going down the highway, just when started and when they idle a long time (such as a stoplight) just when you put on the gas.

The vehicles I'd report are those that just billow it out as they're going down the road. However, the worst two offenders I've ever seen, there was no way to report them. This is because the smoke was so thick, I couldn't even see what KIND of car it was, let alone the license plate.

a found out about reporting smoking vehicles here in Texas when I received my new drivers license in the mail and it had a mailer included with the DL with a web site to report smoking vehicle. The vehicle has to be smoking for 10 seconds or more before it is considered "smoking". And I have not been able to spot a smoking vehicle yet.

If you don't bookmark the Smoking Vehicle Report Entry page, you can get to it by:

http://www.smokingvehicle.org/

That's easier to remember off of the top of your head.

I've been using this report feature for some time. The state could do more to promote it. I doubt many people even know that it exist. Whatever people think about auto pollution, if you can see and smell it, you know that it's not good.

Yes I do, When I can read their tag. A lot of times when a vehicle is spewing smoke, it's driver isn't real keen on vehicle cleanliness and the tag is unreadable.
